About Me Let's see.. right now I'm a student. I can't make up my mind what want to be "when I grow up" because there are so many things I want to do. But for now I'm an English major, gonna get my teacher's cert and teach high school or college lit. i'd really love to be a book editor, but we'll see where things take me. i'd also like to spend my life playing my violin, or getting paid to draw with sidewalk chalk, or sewing and making halloween costumes, or just watching the sky be cool :P hm what else.. i rarely wear shoes, i'm clumsy, and i am almost always in a skirt, cuz i kind of hate pants but it's socially unacceptable for me to walk around in my undies. this combination leads to a lot of bruises, scrapes, and scars, but i view each one as a gift and hope that other people see them as proof that i enjoy life with a violent, whole-hearted, childlike excitement. I buy ugly things because I worry no one else will like them, and that makes me feel sorry for them. I always always always have a pen and paper on me because you never know when you'll hear or read something that inspires or greatly amuses you. I have kind of a weird obsession with cupcakes. I read too much, I take too many pictures, and I drink WAY too much iced tea. My friends are extremely important to me, second only to my family, but I suppose that's probably true of most people. I talk to strangers and look for fun in the weirdest places. Basically, I'm trying to enjoy life as much as I can without making too many huge mistakes :]
Music I listen to just about everything. I may not listen to much country or hip hop type music, but i can't say that I never do either (I love Garth Brooks and Ludacris. It's true.) I love big band/swing/standards, i also frequently listen to classic rock and newer alternative stuff. I used to go to Ozzfest every summer and still enjoy rock music. I play the violin, have for 13 years, so i've had an appreciation and love for classical and orchestral pieces pounded into my head. I like ska and bad 90's music and i looooove disco/funk. I still know every word to every Spice Girls song. I grew up on Jimmy Buffett, his music always reminds me of growing up in florida. Seriously, it really just depends on my mood.
Movies so i'm just gonna look at my shelves and name a few - there's a lot of Rob Zombie and Tim Burton films, Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, Snatch, Princess Bride, Grosse Pointe Blank, Poolhall Junkies, Boondock Saints, Ocean's 11 (the original, with the Rat Pack), Serenity, Benny and Joon, Swing Kids, Lord of the Rings, Clue, This is Spinal Tap, Ice Pirates, Ghostbusters, a bunch of classic horror films, and a bunch of really cheesy horrible ones that most people have never even heard of, etc etc, ad nauseum et finite
TV Most of the TV I watch is no longer on air - Firefly, Arrested Development, Wonder Falls, Wonder Woman, Tales from the Crypt.. However, I do watch C-SPAN from time to time, and I loves me some Jeopardy. I will admit a shameless love for Nip/Tuck. Beyond that, if the TV's on it's usually my roommate's doing.
Books everything. i will read anything with words. classics, horror, sci-fi/fantasy, history, trashy romances, anything. i have an intense love for words, stories, and the history of both. My true favorites are Lewis Carroll, Shakespeare, the dictionary/thesaurus, and Calvin and Hobbes. Truth.
Likes words. cupcakes. laughing. any body of water. strangers. croquet. dancing and singing to anything and everything, it doesn't matter if you're "good" or not. owls. iced tea, apple juice, whiskey. coloring books and crayons. wind up toys. HATS even though i rarely wear them, to be honest. snail mail, letters, and lame cards (i AM my grandmother...), halloween. museums. naps. ya know.. normal human interests, for the most part :]
Dislikes june bugs, throwing up, and having a messy kitchen. although i don't know too many people who do like those things. i also hate everything having to do with beets. yuck.
Hobbies napping, crocheting, reading, and coloring. and the ren faire of course <3
Vices i like to drink. i'll have a cigar or a cigarette every so often. hell, i'm a fan of all seven sins every now and again ;] i procrastinate to a dangerous point. i'm kind of anal about keeping my apartment clean, which might not sound like a fault, but it drives my roommate nuts. i'm pretty sure if it didn't result in our apt. always being nice, she'd shoot me for it.
Virtues i'm usually pretty honest, excepting of course the little white lies everyone tells to keep people happy sometimes. i just don't see the point in lying. i've been told i'm "motherly" - my neighbors tell me i'm always trying to feed them, make sure they're comfortable, etc. i think that just comes from being an older sibling, cousin, and aunt. i don't know, i don't like to harp on my virtues. ask someone else. haha.
Heroes i think just about anyone can be a hero. i know it sounds cheesy and lame, but honestly. i've found extremely admirable traits in some of the most unexpected places. don't ever be afraid to let people astound you.

so i just got home. and by home, i mean my parents' house cuz whether i live here or not it's always... HOME home. anyway, apparently there was a huge storm here a few days ago and they've been without power for about four days. it also knocked out their satellite dish. luckily, everyone and everything is unharmed and peachy. BUUUUUUUUT when it knocked out the satellite, it erased all the DVR program things that they had recorded... my mom had been taping the BBC's Robin Hood and saving them for when i visited so we could watch them together. the show is kind of lame and suuuuuper cheesy, but i think that's kind of what robin hood anything is supposed to be like, plus there's lots of adorable british boys in it. i don't get the BBC in my cable package at my apartment 8 thousand years away, so the only time i get to watch it is when i come visit. so now it's gone and my mom and i missed out on like.. the last three episodes of the season. SAD!

i came home this weekend for my niece Olivia's first birthday party, plus my.. surrogate older sister (my best friend's sister, who's become like a sister to me?) is supposed to be having her first baby sometime this weekend. yay! i'm pretty excited about the whole thing. plus i infected my sister with my weird cupcake love, so the party is going to be cupcakes abound. EXCELLENT.

umm.. oh! i made a friend in traffic today. my friend sam and i were driving around and there was a pretty man on a pretty motorcycle, but he wasn't wearing a helmet. this upsets me greatly, seatbelts and helmets and leather are there for your safety. so we yelled at him for not wearing a helmet and told him it would be a shame if he ruined his pretty face. he offered to buy us lunch. haha.. also, i found a HIDEOUS pair of enormous RAINBOW SUSPENDERS at the thrift store. best 3 dollar purchase i've made in a while. i got way more compliments than i was expecting when i wore them haha...

and just to throw it out there, i really have no idea how to operate this website yet.. so if you leave me a comment or friend request or whatever, don't think i'm snubbing you if i don't respond immediately. i'm basically tripping my way through it, not that it's difficult.. i'm just stupid and busy haha... but please, i love strangers and making new friends!

    have a lovely day :]
